Rail-tractors

A latter-day development has been the conversion of redundant Massey-Ferguson 135 tractors into rail-tractors - and 15 of these hybrids, bearing their original Ferguson "F" (as in F 878) rather than "LM" serial numbers, exist. This development, in which the tractors are fitted to modified rail bogies, was first carried out at Blackwater Works in 1987, and in fact F 878 was the proto type.
