Railway Make-up

Bord na Mona’s Industrial Railway incorporates 710 km of narrow gauge railway, 570 km of which is permanent track. The remainder is temporary track that may be lifted and re-laid up to 12 times a year to facilitate peat transportation by connecting different stock piles with the main line. All industrial railways through level crossings and underpasses are permanent track.
